From Kindergarten Stage to AI Age: Why I Still Believe in Stories

Everyone wants to tell stories. When I told friends I wanted to write a book, eighty percent said they wanted the same. Retired managers, senior executives, entrepreneurs—they all wanted to write their lives and pass them down.

Stories are not just memories. A product is a story. A brand is a story. A price is a story. In the conference business, I watched Chinese companies spend fortunes on overseas exhibitions. Yet they rarely spoke. They had no story, only catalogs. So they fought on price alone.

I also watched Chinese employees stall in global corporations. The bamboo ceiling. Asians are seen as hardworking. Nothing more. But those who shape their career stories? They rise.

We live in stories. They carry feeling, hidden knowledge. That is their power. Good storytellers win everywhere—in school, in business, in private life, in public. But not everyone knows how. Especially not Chinese like me. We grew up in a rigid system where scores matter and feelings do not.

So I want to be a good storyteller. That is what a writer is. I want to share how I found my voice with you.

I believe stories helped us survive the Stone Age. They will help us prevail in the age of AI.

AI has no true stories.
